The Money Tree
My son is a senior in High School this year and every time I turn around there is another demand for money! So where is the tree planted? He recently blew the engine of his truck and it will cost $1200 for a new one. His old truck which only needs a new radiator is sitting in the yard, but it’s not good enough. Now we have prom coming up. When I asked how much it was going to cost his reply was $500-$1000! Did I miss something some where? So being the horrible mother I am, I called the girlfriend who is very sweet and asked what the deal is. She told me that nothing we set yet and that she had offered to pay for her ticket. The tickets are $120 a person. My GOD!!! When I had my prom at the nicest hotel in Houston back in the stone age we barely paid anything and ZZ-Top even offered to play at our prom when the band we had backed out.
I next called my daughter to see what the going cost for prom is back in Texas and after checking with a few friends said it should cost him between $250 and 300 depending on the flowers, the tux and if they are getting a limo? A LIMO??? Ok, I’m old I admit it. Now the fun begins how much do I give him? How much can I make in the mean time? I only need 9 more clients by the end of the month to make my goal. When that comes through he will probably get $300 for prom and then we will give him money for his birthday to make up the shortage on the truck, but boy it just kills me to think what will happen when the Money Tree falls down!!!
