Thanksgiving Day

Published by admin at 6:13 pm under Parenthood, Thanksgiving, holidays

What a life!! Today we watched the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade.  Nothing new, I have been watching it for years and saw it for the first time in color way back in 1967.  so when the announcer said that Dolly Parton was going to be on next, I was excited.  I have always loved the woman for her style and voice.  Then I had a small shock when my 7 year old commented “who is that?”  Then he saw her on TV and said oh she was on Hanna Montana.  Is she Famous???  As soon as I shut my mouth, I explained that she was one of the Original Hanna Montana’s… Life seemed so simple when I was a kid.  You had Thanksgiving dinner at Grandma’s, then the men all watched the Texas A&M/ UT game.  The evening was followed by desert of pumpkin pie or mincemeat and then it was home.  The tree went up the next day and then you waited for Santa.

Now as I look at the ads for Black Friday, it all revolves around TV programs.  So the question now is, do I get the educational and fun toys with no batteries that will expand my son’s mind, or do I get the games with Hanna Montana or High School Musical.  Hard to say at this point.  I do know that I will be up early for the 4am sales and then back to the house in time for the all day chat at Assist.com/chat.  I guess we will all have to see. what my poor child gets.

So now I guess its time to relax.  Dinner is over, the dishes are done and all the food is put away.  So from my house to yours, Happy Thanksgiving!!!
