Passion and Special Needs

Published by Sandy at 6:29 pm under Down's Syndrome, Passion, Working from home

Not too long ago I was talking to a friend who said I needed to find a nitch.  For me the nitch is probably learning to balance working at home with having 2 special needs children.  Over the years, I have been blessed with 9 children.  Since 2000, I have lost 2 of those children leaving me with 7.  Still a large family, but not without some heartache over the loss of our girls.  However, I also gave birth along the way to triplets, which many of you know about.  However, what I don’t share with many people is the fact that 2 of my triplets are identical with Down’s Syndrome.  That in itself makes our family wierd, but our two are very special.  In 3 1/2 years, we had close to 50 hospital admits and numerous surgeries.  So how does that effect now?  Well to be honest, I’m not very trusting with others in terms of watching my kids.  And since, Thierry works nights, I can’t just leave them with anyone.  So I have to work via the internet.  I rarely if ever go out of the house except for grocery runs or to pick up the kids at school.  I also don’t give parties, even though the company I belong to is set up as a party company.  So my big question is if you have Special kids, how do you balance it all?  Do you trust others with your children?  Drop me a note and let me know.  Also if you have special kids yourself or know someone who does, let me know I’d like to have them on the show to talk about it.

Have a great day!
