Published by admin under Foundation, New show, cooking

Hi it’s not only Monday, but it’s June as well.  It is so hard to believe it when I look outside and think back just a mere 2 months ago there was still snow on the ground.  Wow, isn’t nature amazing.

On today’s show we have Felicia Slattery.  She going to be talking to us about signature statements?! Should be fun and our foundation this week is the Abandoned Childrens Fund… The recipe is Grilled Teriyaki Steaks…. I hope you enjoy the show!

Happy April Fools Day!

Published by admin under $450 a month eating, cooking, illness

Today is my son’s birthday and it is far from being a fools day.  I do want to appologize for the fact that the blogs have not been updated lately.  I just have had the blahs and haven’t been able to get over them.  Now I hope I am back on track.  Thank you all for your patience with me.  Now on to bigger and better.

How to feed a family of 6 for $450 a month.  Tonight it is Lasagna.  The nice thing about this meal is that it makes enough for left overs.  I used the recipe off of the box so I didn’t have to cook the noodles.  The total time in the oven is about an hour and it can be made ahead so all you have to do is put it in the oven when you get home.  The cost break down for me was: meat 1.99, sauce (26oz jar) $1.30, water, ricotta cheese 1.45, mozarella cheese in the bag 1.99, parmasan cheese (1/4 of the bag) 1.99, noodles (1/2 box) 1.64, 2 eggs (2/12) 1.50.  so the total cost for 12 servings was 9.12/ 12 = .76 per serving.  So we have two meals for $9.12.  you can serve the lasagna with salad for an additional 1.99 & Italian bread for 1.50 plus a dessert of pudding or jello.  Jello is about .50 for box plus water.  So our total meal tonight is 13.11 which leaves us  $436.89.  Tomorrow we go easy…

Another Storm Coming!

Published by Sandy under Working from home, cooking, food, snow

Wow what a week!  I have made part of my goals for the month.  No telling what I’ve missed, but thats ok.  I am going to have a great March.  I made it to the store for the week and have purchased food for the boys, so can’t get much better at this point.  We are expecting 6 -12 inches of snow over night and have no plans for the weekend.  It should be exciting to be able to read and plan for the new month.

When parents start to plan their business strategy for the month, it probably is not best to wait for the last minute, but I think for me it works.  I have a number I need to hit by the end of December to be where I want and I will just have to divide it by 10.  That will give me goal one.  Goal 2 is simple.  Just add 2 new consultants a month and I am on track.  Now I just need to be tough.  So the other thing is to work on my meals for the month.  Oh well, so much for being a parent and hoping for a good year.  Have a great weekend and stay warm.

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!!!

Published by admin under Parenthood, cooking, snow

Oh how it did snow yesterday.  The kids were in school for a whole 2-3 hours.  Our ground was green and peaking through the ice that was left from the last thaw….then in a blink of the eye, the world was white.  It was so bad that Thierry even had to work from home…

I cooked Lunch and Dinner.  Chilli for lunch and gumbo for Dinner, it must have worked, because the boys forgot to ask for dessert… I even managed to have an online party last night in my nightgown… What a life!!  To think I use to go to work and slave for some one else.  Now I just slave for my family.  Life is good.  What is it Mel Brookes said, “it’s good to be the king!”  For me I guess it would be the queen.

So now the boys are at school, I can rest for a bet, and then transform once again into “SUPERMOM”!  The life we are forced to lead… Have a great day folks and enjoy your weather… I know I will.

Ideas and the Snow is Falling!!

Published by admin under Maine, Shopping, christmas, cooking, food, holidays, snow

I realize this is going to get boring, but it snowed again this morning.  Coming from Texas, I assumed snow was just wet stuff that fell on you and made a mess… It’s not.  Here you can see the actual shape of each flake.  It is just amazing.  One of our sons is having a little trouble with the snow over-stimulating his senses, but he is going to make it.  Alex has a few autistic tendencies, but on the whole it is not an issue.

So what about Christmas?  Stephanie has made a few suggestions with her Pampered Chef business and I know I have a few ideas about food, but what else can we do?  I know that Nicole over at Itchin to Scrap has some adorable purses and of course Misty had some grate ideas with her Tupperware, but is that all there is?

One year I made outfits for my girls, who are now 21 and 19, but at the time it was cute.  I took a White Sweat shirt and then ironed on a Santa Clause Print I found.  Then I outlined it with sewing glitter from the craft store.  Or one year I made a gift for my sister-in-law.  I took a 12 inch Styrofoam cone and attached inexpensive ornaments to it with hot glue.  I went all the way around and up that cone and she had an unusual Christmas tree as a decoration.  Christmas is not about cost, but about thought.  One year I even bought a couple of photo albums. I then covered them with fabric that matched the personality of the recipient. They are still used.  So check out some simple crafts and see what you can come up with.  My mom use to take a shoe box and line it with foil.  Then she filled it with cookies… What a memory.  So think, don’t just fill out a check.  Make a wonderful memory this year

Emily made it home safely…

Well, Emily is now back in Texas… It was so hard seeing her go.  The kids got to go sleding.  The temp was close to 50, and then had a blast.  So many nice memories for them and for us.  This week Elizabeth DeArmond helps to create more memories with her Homemade Gourmet Food.  This stuff is wonderful.  If you want Southwestern, but were afraid, don’t be.  It is easy and good….   Habitat for Humanity is another group that helps people help themselves.  It is such a worthy group, please check them out and see if you can help them in some small way.

Housekeeping:  Just wanted to let you know that for $130 you can get a year of weightloss on a program that is doctor approved.  Sound too good to be true, well its not.  Belly Buster Diet is excellent!  They offer menus, weekly support and cooking classes all for one low price.  Go check them out.  You won’t be sorry.  Jockey is still having its special to become a consultant.  The cost is $99.00 and it will go away at the end of January… Period.   There are no plans to bring it back.  For the $99 you get over $650 dollars in clothing retail plus business supplies, how can you go wrong.  Homemade Gourmet now has COFFEE and it is GOOD! check them out…
